Introduction​

In the dynamic world of open-source software, my journey as the Executive Director & Maintainer at TCET Open Source has been both challenging and rewarding. From June 2023 to December 2023, I had the opportunity to significantly contribute to the TCET Open Source community, an organization with a robust user base of over 2,000 daily active users. My role evolved from an intern in the Documentation Team to a leadership position, where I took charge of enhancing documentation quality, leading critical projects, and fostering educational initiatives. This blog post delves into my experiences, achievements, and the impactful contributions I made during this period.

  • Internship in Documentation Team

    • Duration: June 2023
    • Role: Appointed as an intern in the Documentation Team for TCET Open Source, an organization with over 2,000 daily active users.
    • Responsibilities: Assisted in documenting various projects and contributed to improving the organization’s documentation.

  • Contributions to Documentation Repository

    • Duration: June 2023 – August 2023
    • Achievements: Contributed 5 Pull Requests to the Documentation Repository.
    • Impact: Enhanced the clarity and completeness of the documentation, facilitating better understanding and use by the community.

  • Promotion to Executive Director and Repository Maintainer

    • Duration: August 2023
    • Role: Elevated to Executive Director and Repository Maintainer (Level 6) as per this discussion.
    • Responsibilities: Oversaw the documentation team, managed repository issues, and ensured high-quality documentation standards.

  • Hacktober Fest Participation

    • Duration: October 2023
    • Role: Actively participated as a maintainer during Hacktober Fest.
    • Responsibilities: Managed contributions from the open-source community, reviewed pull requests, and facilitated smooth collaboration.

  • Team Lead for TCET Linux Documentation

    • Duration: September 2023 – November 2023
    • Achievements: Led the documentation efforts for TCET Linux, resulting in the completion of an 18-page documentation.
    • Responsibilities: Coordinated with team members, drafted and finalized documentation, and ensured the project met the required standards.

  • Educational Initiatives for Team Members

    • Duration: September 2023 – November 2023
    • Activities: Conducted online lectures and coding boot camps on topics including Docusaurus, Arch Linux, TCET Linux, and GitHub for team members.
    • Objective: Enhanced the technical skills and knowledge of the team, contributing to improved project documentation and maintenance.
